How much does a hair transplant surgery cost? Many patients are concerned about hair restoration cost. Average pricing is determined by the number of grafts needed. Generally a procedure is 2000 to 3500 grafts, and the average hair restoration cost is $5 to $6.50 per graft. Medical tourism has increased to find cheaper prices, but these countries offer no recourse for any bad outcomes and often have less desireable results. Once hairs are taken from the donor area, that area has less likelihood to be used for future needs.

What is the difference between FUT and FUE? FUT is a follicular unit transection, where the hair in the back of the scalp is removed with a large scalpel incision. It leaves a large scar and and can often damage many follicles causing poor results. Imago utilizes FUE such as Neograft technology, which is follicular unit extraction. For this method, we use a small hole punch the size of the follicle to remove individual hairs in a spread out manner so no noticeable scar is seen to the back of the scalp, and the follicles are not damaged in the process. It is far superior to FUT.

What is the success rate of FUE? Generally it is a 92% success rate, which is extremely high for a medical procedure. That means that 92% of the hairs transplanted will successfully grow permanently.

Can I bring lost hair back with minoxidil or finasteride? If it has only been 6 months since hairs were lost, it is possible for these mediations to bring back some hair and volume. Many companies promise balding hair treatments for hair regrowth to areas of balding. But once a hair follicle has gone, hair restoration surgery is the only way to treat hair loss to that area.

What's the best way of preventing hair loss? Alopecia is a common problem for men. Finasteride and Minoxidil are very effective. Finasteride works better for the front, while minoxidil works on the crown area. Eventually genetics will win, but these medications can stave off loss for 5 or more years and provide the best hair regrowth to areas recently thinning.
